The assignment

In response to the growing importance of Google Analytics 4 (GA4), we were tasked with delivering a comprehensive GA4 training session for the team at Maandag. The goal was to provide them with the skills and confidence needed to navigate the new platform and leverage its features for better data-driven decisions. This session was aimed at ensuring the team could fully transition from Universal Analytics to GA4, maximizing its new capabilities for insightful reporting and analysis.

What we covered in the training

The session was structured to ensure that everyone left with a solid understanding of GA4’s key features and functionalities. Here's what the team gained after the training:

  • Understanding the difference between Universal Analytics and GA4: We explained the key differences between the two platforms, focusing on data collection, reporting structure, and event-based tracking in GA4.

  • Navigating through GA4: We walked through the new interface, helping the team become comfortable with GA4’s layout and where to find the features and reports they need.

  • Locating your reports: We showed participants where to find both standard and custom reports, and how to quickly access the data they need for analysis.






  • Customizing reports: We taught how to modify existing reports to tailor them to specific needs, such as adding custom dimensions or adjusting date ranges.

  • Applying filters and comparisons: We demonstrated how to use filters and comparisons to refine data and segment it for deeper insights.

  • Building Explore reports: We walked through the process of creating custom Explore reports to dive deeper into specific data points and create tailored analysis.

  • Reading and interpreting reports: We covered how to read GA4 reports, ensuring that everyone could understand the metrics, dimensions, and trends presented in the data to get actionable insights from them.
